The yellow flowers of the zebra plant come in late summer and fall.

Culture:
The Aphelandra is cold sensitive, and will tend to drop leaves if the temperature stays below 60°F (16 °C). Cut the plant back after flowering. It needs a soil rich in humus, and bright light. Avoid direct sun. Fertilize when the plants is growing its flower buds.
