Sun Exposure: Full sun

Origin: Sonoran and Chihuahuan Deserts (Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas), northern Mexico, from sea level to 6000 feet elevation (1800 m)

Growth Habits: Annual, prostrate branched stems up to 3 feet spread (90 cm); opposite, pinnately compound leaves

Watering Needs: Little to moderate water

Propagation: Seeds in spring or autumn (soak the seeds for a few hours to speed up germination)

Blooming Habits:
Yellowish orange (sometimes pink) 5-petaled flowers with reddish veins and center, 1 to 2 inches in diameter (2.5-5 cm) in summer. They open in the morning and becomes paler as the day goes by.
