Origin: Probably a garden hybrid of Dombeya burgessiae X Dombeya wallichii
Growth Habits: Very variable, evergreen small tree or shrub, 13-23 feet tall (4-7 m); rather smooth bark; green tomentose, round to heart-shaped leaves, 8 to 12 inches long (20-30 cm), with toothed margins and a long petiole

The genus Dombeya is named after Joseph Dombey, an 18th-century French botanist, doctor, and explorer. The species is named after Henri Cayeux, a horticulturist, responsible for many hybrids and new cultivars, who is also supposed to have created this one.
Blooming Habits:
Pale pink 5-petaled flowers, 1 inch wide (2.5 cm), in round clusters, 6 to 8 inches wide (15-20 cm), hanging at the branch tips, in late winter. The spent flowers persist on the tree.
Fruiting Habits:
Capsule, 0.4 inch in diameter (1 cm)
