Growth Habits: Small to medium evergreen tree, typically slow growing to 14 to 30 feet tall in cultivation (4-9 m), 15 feet spread (4.5 m) up to about 100 feet tall (30 m) in the wild; dark, glossy green entire or lobed leaves up to 18 inches long (45 cm), paler underside

Watering Needs: Regular deep watering in summer, dislikes alkaline soils, needs good drainage

Propagation: Seed or cuttings

The generic name 'Stenocarpus' comes from the Greek for 'narrow fruit'.

Blooming Habits:
The small, bright red flowers, each up to 4 inches long (10 cm) are organized in conspicuous wheel-like umbels. It blooms intermittently in summer through to autumn.

Fruiting Habits:
Woolly gray capsules, 2 to 4 inches long (5-10 cm), containing winged seeds.

Culture:
Good swimming pool tree because of its attractive flowers and limited leaf drop.
