Low growing annual weed, some varieties are cultivated. It has been used for medicinal purpose, but can be toxic.
Blooming Habits:
The 0.25 inch wide flowers (6 mm) are opened mostly in the morning, opening around 8 am, closing around 2 pm. The wild flowers are brick red, while the rarer var. caerulea having blue flowers.
