This poppy is the state flower of California. It is an easy way to cover a desert landscaping area with bright yellow flowers. It was discovered by a plant-loving medical doctor on board a Russian ship.
Culture:
Fertilizing is not necessary, and excess fertilization will prevent blooming. Remove faded flowers to prolong bloom.
Propagation:
In Phoenix, sow in place from September to February. You can sow indoor at 60°F (16°C). The seeds should germinate in 10 to 12 days. Plant the seedlings before they are 4 weeks old because older seedlings will not transplant well. Space the plants 6 to 8 inches apart (15 to 20 cm)
