Blooming Habits:
Yellow to reddish-orange flowers with an unpleasant smell, in mid-spring for 2-3 weeks. The scent of the bulb is also supposed to repel rodents.
Culture:
Plant the bulbs in the fall, 8 inches deep (20 cm), 8 to 12 inches apart (20-30 cm). In zone 7, the Fritillarias need to be mulched to avoid cold damage to the bulb.
