Growth Habits: Deciduous tree, very fast growing to 50 to 100 feet tall (15-30 m), 40 to 70 feet wide (12-21 m); pinnate leaves, 6 to 12 inches long (15-30 cm), winged rachis, 11 to 25 oblong, unequal, finely toothed leaflets, up to 3.2 inches long (8 cm)

Watering Needs: Regular to moderate water, prefers moist, well drained soil, but is quite drought tolerant

Propagation: Seeds, suckers, heeled cuttings in summer


Blooming Habits:
The separate male and female inflorescences are light green pendulous catkins.

Fruiting Habits:
Emerald green, winged seeds, 0.5 to 1 inch long (1.2-2.5 cm), slender, pointed wings longer than the seed. The seeds are lined up on hanging stems, 12 to 20 inches long (30-50 cm) turning brown in autumn.
