Heat Tolerance: Very questionable, difficult to keep alive in summer in Phoenix

Growth Habits: Bulbs, deciduous or evergreen, 1 to 6 feet tall depending on variety

Watering Needs: Keep the soil moist during bloom

Propagation: Division in late spring or early fall, seeds in spring or early fall, cuttings of plantlets on flower stems

There are hundreds of varieties of daylilies with different colors, sizes, evergreen or deciduous, with various blooming season. They are readily available in the spring in Phoenix, but are better treated as annual, since they are difficult to keep alive in the high summer heat.

Culture:
Although Daylilies will grow in any kind of soil, they do better in humus rich soils with regular water. Mulch in summer to keep the soil cool and humid. Divide every few years (if they have survived…). The best time to plant in Phoenix is in the fall.
