Growth Habits: Large deciduous tree, slow growing to 30 feet tall and wide (15 m); star-shaped leaves with 5 lobes themselves divided, 3 to 6 inches across (7-15 cm), turning orange in the fall

Propagation: Seeds, sprouts, stem cuttings, difficult to transplant
The storax or balsam is produced by the bark when it is hurt.
Blooming Habits:
Insignificant cream flowers, followed by spiny, globe shaped fruits.
