Home Page | Albizia is a large genus of short-lived tropical shrubs and small trees related to the acacias. They are named for Fillipo degli Albizzi, an 18th century Italian naturalist who brought it back from Asia. The alternate spelling 'albizzia' is incorrect.
Their small flowers come in colorful globe or finger-shaped clusters. They are followed by large pods. The seeds germinate easily and the Albizias grow fast.
