Growth Habits: Evergreen shrub with hairy twigs, up to 5 feet tall and wide (1.5 m); alternate and simple, leathery leaves with ciliate margins, 1.6 to 2.4 inches long (4-6 cm), 0.5 to 1 inch wide (1.2-2.5 cm)
Watering Needs: Regular water, like acidic soil and like rainwater, needs good drainage
Propagation: Seeds, cuttings are difficult
Propagation: Cutting or occasionally seed
Leaves and nectar from flowers are highly poisonous.
Blooming Habits:
White urn-shaped fragrant flowers, 0.25 inch long (6 mm), with 5 spreading lobes, in terminal, erect clusters, 2 to 4 inches long (5-10 cm) in early spring.
Fruiting Habits:
Dry, 5-parted round capsule, 0.25 inch in diameter (6 mm).
