| Home Page | Alluaudias are very common in Madagascar where most of them become trees. Although most of the ones sold in nurseries here in the states look like the north-american ocotillo, they are not at all related to it, but instead are related to cacti. Alluaudias take very little frost, and should be protected in winter.
They are dioecious which means that there are male plants and female plants. This makes seed production more complicated. They are generally propagated by cuttings, since seeds are seldom available and cuttings are easy.
