In nature, the Cochliostema is an epiphyte (growing on trees). It somewhat looks like a big bromeliad, and share the same growing requirements. It can be a striking greenhouse plant. The sap is irritating.

Blooming Habits:
The cochliostema has fragrant blue flowers, with the blue to dark blue or purple inside, and white to light blue outside. Fruits are green.
