The wood of Mesua ferrea is very heavy, it is used for railroad ties and building needs.
Its resin is slightly poisonous, but many parts have medicinal properties.

Fragrant, large, 4-petaled, white flowers, 3 inches across (7.5 cm)

Fruiting Habits:
Subglobose dark brown fruit, up to 2 inches long (5 cm), containing compressed seeds.
