Saltbushes are extremely tolerant of salt contant in the ground. Their name is coming from the fact that they retain salt in their leaves. They thrive where summers are hot.
Blooming Habits:
The Old Man Saltbush is dioecious, there are male and female plants. Only the female plants bear the winged bracts.
Culture:
Can be sheared for hedges. It is also good to trim it after the blossoms and seeds have dried up, to improve its appearance.
