Origin: Mexico: Durango, Jalisco, Michoacan, Zacatecas at 4000 to 8000 feet elevation (1200 to 2400 m)

Growth Habits: Slowly clumping in cultivation, up to 1.6 inches tall (4 cm), 2 inches wide (5 cm), tuberous roots, 30 or more radial spines, 4 to 14 central spines, with one hooked

Watering Needs: Little to no water in winter


Blooming Habits:
Scented rose to purple flowers, in late winter, up to one inch in diameter (2.5 cm)
