Frost Tolerance: Hardy to 25°F (-4°C)

Sun Exposure: Full sun to light shade

Origin: Argentina (Gran Chaco)

Growth Habits: Cactus with long 3 or 4-angled spiny stems, up to 6 feet tall (1.8 m)

Watering Needs: Water and fertilize regularly from spring to fall. Keep rather dry in winter.

Propagation: Cuttings, seeds


Blooming Habits:
In summer, the Harrisia balansae has large white nocturnal flower reaching 10 inches in diameter (25 cm). They are followed by an edible red fruit.
