The species name is spelled ragonesii or ragonesei, but the Kew Index lists it as ragonesei, and it’s the spelling we retained here. It is named after its collector whose name was Ragonese. This Gymnocalycium is supposed to be one of the more difficult species in cultivation.
Blooming Habits:
The Gymnocalycium ragonesei has a 1.5 inches long (4 cm) white flower with a reddish throat.
