Origin: Mexico (Baja California, Gulf islands - Carmen, Santa Catalina, Cerralvo, Danzante, and San Diego islands)

Growth Habits: Solitary, one of the largest species of Ferocactus, up to 12 feet tall (3.6 m), 3 feet in diameter (90 cm); mature plants have 25 to 35 ribs; areoles 0.6 inch apart (1.5 cm); 4 to 8 spines, almost all alike, not ringed or hooked, up to 3 inches long (7.5 cm)

Watering Needs: Little to no water when established

This species is named after Leon Diguet, a French explorer who was investigating pearl fisheries on Santa Catalina Island in the Gulf of California

Blooming Habits:
The Ferocactus diguetii has reddish flowers, 1.6 inches long (4 cm), 1.6 inches in diameter (4 cm). Fruits up to 1.2 inches long (3 cm)
