Growth Habits: Solitary columnar cactus, slowly up to 8 feet (2.4 m), generally below 4 feet (1.2 m), 12 inches in diameter (30 cm); from 13 to 20 ribs, the number increasing with the maturity of the plant; areoles oval, 0.7 to 0.8 inch long (17-20 mm), 0.7 to 0.8 inch apart (17-20 mm); about 9 central spines, up to 2 inches long (5 cm), the lower one flattened, up to 0.4 inch wide; 10 to 14 radials.
Watering Needs: Little water

Blooming Habits:
Yellow red-tinged flowers in early summer followed by yellow fruit.
