Origin: Southern Brazil to Argentina

Growth Habits: Solitary or clustering, cylindrical stems, up to 12 inches tall (30 cm), 6 inches in diameter (15 cm); 11 to 18 ribs, not tuberculate; circular areoles with white or tan wool, 0.4 inches apart (1 cm); 12 to 18 short spines, generally less than 0.3 inch (8 mm)

This species was named after Alexandre Eyries of Le Havre, France.

Blooming Habits:
White flower, 7 to 10 inches long (17-25 cm), 2 to 4 inches in diameter (5-10 cm)
