Echinocereus leucanthus


Scientific Name: Echinocereus leucanthus N.P.Taylor
Synonym: Wilcoxia albiflora
Family: Cactaceae

Sun Exposure: Light shade to bright light, avoid full sun

Origin: Mexico (southern Sonora, Sinaloa: Los Mochis)

Growth Habits: Clambering cactus, free branching, light green cylindrical stems, 8 inches to 3 feet long (20-90 cm), 0.2 to 0.3 inch in diameter (5-7 mm); tuberous roots; 8 to 12 superficial ribs; 9 to 12 small thin yellowish or white spines, 2 mm long.


Blooming Habits:
Diurnal white flowers with a greenish yellow throat in summer, near the tips of the stems, 0.8 inch long (2 cm). The green fleshy ovoid fruit is 0.6 inch long (1.5 cm) by 0.3 inch in diameter (8 mm).
