Origin: Brazil (Bahia: Morro do Chapéu)

Growth Habits: Clustering globose stems, up to 2.4 inches tall (6 cm), 4 inches in diameter (10 cm); 16 to 20 ribs; usually no central spine (occasionally 1); 10 radials, 1 inch long (2.5 cm) obscuring the stem.


Blooming Habits:
White nocturnal flowers out of the cephalium, up to 3.2 inches in diameter (8 cm). The fruit is dark red.
