Synonym: Escobrittonia gracilis
Family: Cactaceae

Origin: Mexico (Chihuahua: Rancho Pelayo)

Growth Habits: Generally solitary, globose, 1.6 inches in diameter (4 cm); tap root 3 to 4 inches long (7-10 cm); 0 to 2 central spines; 12-18 radial spines, 0.2-0.4 inch long (5-10 mm)

Watering Needs: Sensitive to overwatering, particularly since it needs a deep pot to accommodate the tap root.


Blooming Habits:
Pale yellow flowers, 1 inch long (2.5 cm), 1.4 to 2 inches in diameter (3.5 to 5 cm). The fruit turns from green to red as it ripens.
