Origin: Peru (Arequipa)

Growth Habits: Basally branching, columnar stems 5 to 16 feet tall (1.5-5 m), stems 6 inches wide (15 cm); around 8 ribs; woolly areoles 1 in. apart (2.5 cm); spines, about 13, 0.4 to 3.2 or more inches long (1 to 8 cm)


Blooming Habits:
Yellow diurnal fragrant flowers in summer, 2 inches (5 to 6 cm) in length, 2.4 inches wide (6 cm); green spiny fruit, 4 inches wide (10 cm)
