Growth Habits: Shrubby, basally branching, up to 2 to 10 feet tall (0.7 to 3 m), 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) in diameter; 10 to 17 ribs; 1 to 4 central spines, 0.8 to 1.2 inches (2 to 3 cm) long; 8 to 18 radial spines, 0.2 to 0.8 inch (0.5 to 2 cm) long;


Blooming Habits:
The purplish red flowers with white edges, are up to 1.5 inches long (4 cm); the fruit is 0.4 inch long (1 cm), red to pink.
