Origin: Coastal western Mexico (southern Sonora, down to Guerrero) from the sea up to 600 to 1000 feet elevation (200-300 m)
Growth Habits: Shrubby, up to 4 feet tall (1.2 m), semi-erect or trailing stems up to 2 in. wide (5 cm), 12 feet long (3.6 m), 3 to 5 ribs; areoles 0.4 to 1.2 in. apart (1-3 cm); 4 central spines, one longer, up to 3 inches long (7 cm); 6 or more radials.
