Pseudobombax ellipticum is a pachycaul tree, forming rapidly a swollen base. It belongs to the Bombacaceae family with the Floss Silk, Kapok, and the Baobab. The flower are a thick brush of pink stamens, hence the name Shaving Brush Tree.
