Growth Habits: Solitary or occasionally offsetting rosettes, up to 2 feet in diameter. Older plants develop a short stem

Watering Needs: Winter grower, needs good drainage

Propagation: Seeds

The leaves are horizontal at the stem, and then curl up so that the tip is vertical. The 16 inches long (40 cm), 3 inches wide (7.5 cm) mature leaves are a solid brownish green, the young growing leaves are tender light green

Blooming Habits:
The flowers are red until they are open, and then turn pure yellow. They come from late fall until mid winter.
