Aloe melanacantha has green thorns on the side of the leaf, turning black as the leaf matures.
The species name "melanacantha" comes from the Greek for "with black thorns".

Blooming Habits:
The Aloe melanacantha has flowers on a single stem, in late autumn. The red flowers turn yellow as they age.
