Growth Habits: Deciduous pachycaul shrub, up to 4 feet tall (1.2 m)

Propagation: Cuttings, seeds are often unreliable

Operculicarya pachypus differs from Operculicarya decaryi by having glabrous twigs and yellow green flowers. It is much less common than O. decaryi in the wild. The species name pachypus comes from the Greek for 'thick foot'.

Blooming Habits:
The Operculicarya pachypus has very small (less than 0.1 inches - 2 mm) yellow-green flowers in late winter.

Culture:
Operculicaryas need a dry/cool season in order to bloom.

Propagation:
Operculicarya can be readily propagated using pieces of the tuberous roots.
