Origin: Mauritius Island (Mascarene)
Leaf: Costapalmate, 8 to 24 glaucous bluish green, hastula pointed and flat, unsplit tips, to 8 feet wide (2.4 m). armed leafstems wth wool and wax at the bottom.
Trunk: Gray, lightly ringed, swollen base, 10 inches in diameter (25 cm).
Flower: Flower stalk coming from among the leaves, 3 to 6 feet long 0.9 to 1.8 m).
Fruit: Brownish green. 2 inches long (5 cm). plum shaped.
Seed: 3 seeds per fruit, ridge along one side.

Almost extinct in its natural habitat.
