Origin: Northeastern Brazil
Leaf: Costapalmate, 20 to 30 very waxy, blue green leaves. 30 to 60 narrow leaflets barely split at their tips. 3 to 4 feet wide. to 3 feet long (90 cm), armed.
Trunk: Gray, characteristical pattern of leaf bases persist for a while.
Flower: Brown bisexual flowers. Flower stalk coming from among the leaves, 5 to 7 feet long.
Fruit: Brown. 1 inch long (2.5 cm).
