Leaf: Pinnate, 100 to 180 regularly arranged glaucous green leaflets. coarse spiny material along the edges.
Trunk: 18 inches in diameter (45 cm).
Flower: Wooly spath.
Fruit: Yellow. 0.75 inch in diameter (2 cm). round.
Seed:

Very similar to the regular Butia Palm, The Wooly Butia Palm can be recognized with its tomentose flower spathe (eriospatha means wooly spath in Greek). It is also a little faster growing.
The fruit is marinated in alcohol to produce a drink.
